Our starters were: Berties famous Salmon and Crab Fishcakes (right), Scallops of the day (left) and Chicken Caesar salad (below left), all beautifully presented. The fresh selection of breads and a jug of water were automatically placed on our table. My stir-fry noodles with chicken and crunchy vegetables was delicious but the peppered Rib-eye steak only just passed the test as it was a little on the tough side (but I didn't taste it!). The Roasted Salmon with lyonaise new potatoes (bottom right) was a hit too. |

Some of us indulged in the puds - The Vanilla pannacotta with black cherry syrup and Strawberry crème brulee were well received! Along with our coffee we were spoilt with the most yummy handmade chocolates (a mixture of nuts, marshmallow and bitter chocolate ). What an ending to an excellent lunch.
Berties is an attractive, friendly restaurant
with several eating areas with tasteful decor.
I would suggest a look at their website as
the menu is interesting and with the Christmas season approaching there
are special party menus throughout December. There are also several en suite
guest rooms available. www.berties.co.uk

Charming surroundings with excellent service!
I was taken here to lunch on a very cold & wet day. Berties is warm & welcoming. Our waiter instantly brought us a selection of breads with butter & the specials board. He also gave us a jug of water, with out having to be asked, along with our drinks. In these healthy times I don't understand why this doesn't happen in every restaurant!
I chose Locally Made Sausages with White Onion & Rosemary Mash, delicious. My friend chose from the specials board, Salmon Fish Cakes with Lemon Cream, she found them rather bland. We noted that several people were enjoying what looked like excellent, well garnished, & very large sandwiches. The menu is very varied & I would recommend a visit to their website www.berties.co.uk for more details. Will visit again & sure that with different choices it will get a "Smiley" next time!
Only had 1 drink each so I think the Cost: £ £
Yummy Factor 8/10
