The Bear

Since my last visit to this restaurant there has been a massive makeover; it now boasts a very stylish reception, bar and restaurant plus super loos. Lovely soft neutral colours with chunky wooden furnishings - all very attractive, efficient, modern and minimalist. The staff were very friendly and service was good. We were only in for a snack lunch in the bar area and there were plenty of choices from beautifully served sandwiches, salads and the soup of the day. My hot dish of Grilled Goats Cheese & Parmesan Crostini with blushed tomato and thyme pesto was delicious and my companions both had sandwiches which were very generous (Smoked salmon, crème fraiche & capers - Tuna with grilled vegetables & pesto) all attractively served with a mixed leaf salad. We ordered freshly brewed coffee and the complimentary freshly made biscuits were "the icing on the cake". What a nice touch.

Have a look at their website as there are lots of events coming up. Mothers day 26th March offers a yummy lunch for £26.00. Hungerford is a charming town, lots of antique shops and only just out of Hampshire.
