Visited February 2009
We found ourselves in Bishops Waltham and
decided to revisit Banks Bistro.
The surroundings are tasteful and simple,
attractive sludgy colours, comfortable chairs. The waitress was very
welcoming and she seemed to know many of the obviously regular customers.
They were busy! Not surprising
as they are doing such great offers...
Set Lunch served from
12:00-13:45,
2 courses for £11.95 and 3 courses for £13.95. I know they have been
doing a set menu for some years but in these difficult times they are now
reaping the benefit of the loyal following they have built up.
We of course went
for 3 courses! Our choices...........
|
 |
 |
 |
|
Game terrine, plum
chutney |
Cream of butternut
squash soup |
Beef ragu with red
wine & sage |
|
 |
 |
 |
|
Wild mushroom crepe |
Liquorice ice cream |
Bread & butter
pudding |
Everything was well presented, generous
portions and very tasty, as usual I particularly enjoyed the puds! We
were served very nice warm rolls with the starters and thought the
vegetables that accompanied the beef ragu worth a mention as they looked so
attractive. Little pudding shaped puréed carrots with leeks on the top
and a similarly shaped potato cake.
We only had one glass of wine and one
coffee. Excellent value for money and
