Revisited June 2006 & delighted to report still excellent JI.  Ditto in August 2006 says SM!

Visited October 2005

This was a completely unexpected outing for dinner.  SM & myself had already been out for a massive lunch but when we got home our poor lonely husbands wanted an outing and suggested Banana Wharf.  It was a great idea as its so lovely & dark & therefore very flattering when you haven't had time to get ready properly!  It's just the sort of place I love, modern & atmospheric plus & reasonably priced menu.

Interestingly they open early for breakfast & they also do take away, it must be wonderful to live near.  I expect they get a lot of business from all the yachties in the marina.  Very friendly & efficient staff, one flick of a cigarette & the ashtrays are cleaned, one sip of wine & your glass is refilled.  That may be the reason why we got through 3 bottles, well it was Friday night!

We had one portion of Garlic bread between us whilst studying the menu, it was gorgeous & dripping in garlic butter.  I was still full from lunch so only had one course, Pan fried king prawns in white wine, lemon & garlic butter with some home baked bread to mop up the juices, lovely.  SM was also full & so she had a Pure ground beef fillet steak burger which she enjoyed but she could only manage the burger & salad, not the very yummy looking chips that accompanied it.  Definitely a dish to enjoy if you are starving.  The men's choices for starters were Calamari frito which were excellent, very freshly cooked & NOT the horrible rubber rings that so many places including in Spain & Greece call Calamari, and Grilled goats cheese served with a sweet honey dressing & warm bread sticks, very yummy.  Their mains, Shelled king prawns with stir fried vegetables crowned with a sticky sweet chilli sauce, it was a tad too spicy & Stir fried beef fillet with crispy vegetable & noodles in an oyster sauce, delicious!  When I go back it will be hard to decide what to have as we enjoyed everything so much, both the flavours & presentation were excellent.

Wish I had had room for pud as they have a chocolate fondue on the menu, next time!

Cost: but we did have a lot to drink, £ £ £ £ £ £
