Visited April 2007

This is an older style pub on the borders of Hampshire just off the A36.  We visited with the last of our Telegraph Tokens for a £5 taster lunch and all four of us were impressed with the standard of the freshly prepared tasty food. The portions were generous and well presented.

There was a waiting time as it was busy and short staffed. However since we were relaxing in a private dining area we enjoyed our drinks and chats whilst waiting.  The food was worth waiting for.  Our men chose Stilton & Broccoli soup - very tasty.  Other choices were King Prawn cocktail, pictured, Mushroom Stroganoff, Wild Mushroom Risotto, and Chicken with a creamy cheese sauce, also pictured.  Both salad and vegetables were served. A very enjoyable lunch.

The daily menu looks interesting and this pub has plenty of events such as poker nights, curry buffet, and music evenings. Their website is just about to be launched so if you enjoy a chatty pub atmosphere it will be a good venue if a little shabby.
